Police seize ‘big fish’ in drugs gang bust

Koi carp policeNine people have been arrested in a major investigation into drugs smuggling and money laundering, centering on six addresses in Zeewolde and Soest.

As well as weapons, drugs and cash, police also discovered a large collection of valuable koi carp at one of the addresses. The fish, luxury cars, jet skis and a speedboat were all confiscated by police.

The nine – eight men and one woman – were remanded in custody for two weeks by judges on Tuesday.

They are suspected of using a Zeewolde transport company to shift drugs from the Netherlands abroad. The proceeds could run into millions of euros, police said.

Around 100 police officers were involved in the raids, which took place on Saturday.
