Disappointment for Dutch clubs in Europa League

europa league logoFC Groningen is out of the Europa League after losing their third group match in a row, this time thanks to a late own goal by keeper Sergio Padt.

The 1-0 defeat by Czech side Liberec means Groningen have just one point from four games with two matches still to play and have no hope of progression.

Ajax, who drew 0-0 against Turkish side Fenerbahçe on Thursday night, remain in third place in Group A with three points from four games.

They will meet bottom of the group Glasgow Celtic away on November 28. The last match, against current group leader Molde of Norway, is on December 10.

AZ of Alkmar were thrashed 4-1 by FC Augsburg from Germany and are bottom of their group with three points from four matches.
