court justice hammerA second defendant in a major terrorism trial in Amsterdam was released from custody on Monday.

The 19-year-old Oussama C, an Erasmus University drop-out, has been held in a high security prison for 14 months, but the judge said there is no reason to hold him any longer.

Last month, Rudolph H was also freed to await the verdict.

In total, nine men and one woman are suspected of being members of a terrorist organisation centred in The Hague’s Schilderswijk district.

Several face charges of preparing to commit terrorist attacks and others have been charged with recruitment.Three of the defendants are thought to be in Syria or Iraq and one may have been killed.

The public prosecutor sees C as the spiritual leader of the group because of publications on internet and social media in which he disseminates the value of an Islamic state over that of ‘the perverted western lifestyle’.
