Police seize 1.8 tonnes of marijuana in Thai rice shipment
A 52-year-old man from Amsterdam has been arrested following the discovery of 1.8 tonnes of marijuana hidden in a consignment of rice from Thailand.
The drugs, with a street value of €5m, were hidden in airtight plastic bags inside 86 boxes like those containing the rice. The container was intercepted at Rotterdam port.
The man was picked up on Wednesday and has since been released from custody pending the outcome of the investigation.
