The public prosecution department had called for a four-year jail term for Luigi C, who made secret films in the girls’ changing rooms at two hockey clubs for over 20 years.

At the original trial, C was sentenced to 18 months in prison, eight suspended – equivalent to the same amount of actual jail time as he was given on appeal.

The offences took place at the HGC hockey club in Wassenaar and at the HDM club in The Hague. In total, C made at least 116 videos at the clubs involving some 1,300 girls.

Most of the girls were over the age of 16 but some were as young as 12. Two other men were also arrested in connection with the case.

C was also found to have a large amount of child and animal pornography in his possession.
