Silhouette of soldierThree Dutch nationals have been arrested in Bulgaria on charges of membership of a terrorist organisation.

A European arrest warrant had been issued for two of them – young men aged 22 and 18. The third suspect is a 17-year-old girl.

The 18-year-old comes from Almere and a warrant was issued for his arrest last Friday, the public prosecution department has confirmed.

The girl, who is from Utrecht, was not on a list of potential jihadis. Police were alerted after she failed to return home after school last Friday evening.

According to news agency ANP, nothing is yet known about the 22-year-old.

All three will be extradited to the Netherlands within the next few days, ANP says.

Two other defendants in that case have been released from jail.
