Fewer self-employed on welfare benefits
The number of self-employed entrepreneurs on welfare benefits fell in the third quarter to below that of 2008 when the financial crisis began.
This figures come from the institute for medium and small enterprises IMK, which runs the IMK index charting the number of entrepreneurs in financial trouble.
The index is based on the number of self-employed entrepreneurs who apply for welfare benefits and has proved a good forecaster of bankruptcies over the following six months, the Financieele Dagblad reports.
The IMK index was set at 100 in January 2008 and reached a maximum of 272 in March 2010. It has been dropping since 2014 and reached 95 in the third quarter.
Not all sectors showed a positive trend, the IMK said. The greatest recovery was in the construction industry, but in the care sector, welfare benefit claims are still growing.
