Dutch teenager jihadi suspects to be extradited from Bulgaria

court justice hammerThree Dutch nationals arrested in Bulgaria and thought to have been heading for Syria can be extradited to the Netherlands, a Bulgarian court said on Friday.

The three – two teenagers and a 22-year-old man – were picked up on October 5 at a border crossing with Turkey. Investigators say the three were heading for Syria.

The 22-year-old man, who is from IJmuiden, is thought to have made several other attempts to cross the Turkish border with Syria and an international arrest warrant had been issued for him.

The 18-year-old youth comes from Almere and a warrant was issued for his arrest on the Friday he disappeared.

The girl, who is 17 and from Utrecht, was not on a list of potential jihadis. Police were alerted after she failed to return home after school on Friday evening.
