Horse attacks: Mare dies after being abused
Utrecht vets were forced to put down a 25-year-old mare on Sunday after she was found injured in a ditch with serious wounds to her genitals, the Telegraaf said.
Last year it emerged that Dutch police were investigating a spate of violent attacks on horses, many of which they suspect are the work of the same person. Over 60 horses have been attacked over the past year.
In most cases, the horses were mares and in one other case a pregnant mare died.
