Shooting incident in Thalys Amsterdam to Paris

A man was arrested on Friday evening after a shooting incident in the Thalys high-speed train from Amsterdam to Paris.

The man fired a kalashnikov, wounding three people, among them the French actor Jean-Hugues Anglade.

The shooter was overmastered by two soldiers in civilian clothing, an American and an Englishman. The train was then rerouted to the city of Arras in northern France where the man was arrested.

According to the French paper La Voix du Nord, the soldiers heard the sound of an automatic weapon being reloaded in the toilet. They were able to tackle him and take him down.

One of the soldiers was hit by a bullet. The other was stabbed multiple times, Dutch media report.

La Voix du Nord says the shooter has a North African appearance.
