The 44 supporters are aged between 17 and 41 and come from all parts of the Netherlands. They are being prosecuted for the damage caused and for throwing stones at the police, broadcaster Nos reports.

One 21-year-old man from Zierikzee is also charged with attempted murder. He is suspected of having thrown a mortar bomb at a police officer, Nos says.

The hearing on August 31 is pro forma. Sentencing will take place in the autumn.
