Dafne Schippers takes silver in 100 metres at World Cup
Dutch athlete Dafne Schippers took the silver medal in the 100 metre sprint at the World Cup in Peking on Monday afternoon.
The 23-year-old clocked a time of 10.81, improving on her national record of 10.83 which she ran earlier on Monday in the semi-final.
Schippers is the first Dutch woman to run in a 100-metre final in a world cup and the first Dutch woman to break 11 seconds in the 100 metres sprint.
The gold medal went to the current world champion Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce. The 28-year-old Jamaican ran a time of 10.76.
Bronze went to the American Tori Bowie in a time of 10.86.
