The Netherlands drops one place in Swiss competitiveness ranking

netherlands borderThe Netherlands has dropped one place in the latest ranking of the world’s most competitive countries, drawn up by Swiss research bureau IMD.

The Netherlands had been in 14th place for the past two years but has now gone down to 15th, sandwiched between Malaysia and Ireland.

The challenges facing the Netherlands this year include cutting taxes, lowering pension premiums and stimulating exports outside the EU, news agency ANP quotes the institute as saying.

The list is led by the US, followed by Hong Kong and Singapore.
