Dutch Protestant party launches campaign against adultery

sgp posterThe right-wing fundamentalist Christian party SGP is planning a billboard campaign to encourage people who are married to remain faithful to each other.

The SGP, which has three seats in the current parliament, has previously called for government action against websites such as Second Love which encourage people to commit adultery

Members of the public are being invited to vote for their favourite of three posters which focus on the negative effects of partner betrayal. One shows a board game named Overspel (adultery) with the text ‘Overspel, the game everyone loses’. Another shows a happy group of people with the words ‘love… your family’.

Party leader Kees van der Staaij told television chat show De Wereld Draait Door on Thursday that adultery causes a great deal of pain and suffering. ‘This campaign gives voice to all those who want to emphasise the positive side of remaining faithful,’ he said.
