Dutch teen racer Max Verstappen wins first Forumula 1 points

‘It went well,’ the Toro Rosso driver said after the race. ‘The first lap was tricky and the first bend was tight so I did not take any risks.’

Verstappen, who was forced to pull out of the Australian Grand Prix on March 15 with engine failure, finished one lap ahead of his team mate Carlos Sainz. Of the 19 starters, four failed to finish.

In 2001 his father Jos also finished seventh in the Malaysian Grand Prix.

The race was won by Ferrari driver Sebastian Vettel
