Dutch are worried about the international situation, new survey shows

A new report by the Dutch government’s socio-cultural policy unit SCP shows that many Dutch are worried about the international political situation.

The report, published on Tuesday, shows particular concern about Islamic State and radical Islam and, to a lesser extent, about Ukraine and Russia and the financial problems in Greece.

Of those questioned, 40% said they were very worried about the international political situation and 44% that they were a little worried.

The SCP also found that people feel powerless about the situation. ‘Not just because there is nothing they can do personally, but mainly because they feel the Netherlands, the European Union and the US do not have the power to turn the tide,’ the report says.

The SCP analyses Dutch people’s perspectives on a range of social and international issues every quarter.
