A man has been shot dead in a street in the Amsterdam suburb of Osdorp, in what may be yet another gangland killing.

The man was seriously injured in the shooting on the Wolbrantskerkweg and died at the scene after the emergency services reached him. Local residents said they heard several shots being fired and a car being driven off.

According to RTL news, police have identified the victim but have not yet released his name.

Police are appealing for eyewitnesses to come forward, RTL said. There have been at least 20 gang-related murders in Amsterdam over the past two years.
