Dutch railway earned €2.5m in today’s money from transporting Jews in WWII

Dutch railway NS earned the equivalent of €2.5m transporting Jews to the holding camp at Westerbork and the German border during World War II, tv programme Brandpunt will say on Tuesday evening.

The Brandpunt report is based on a document which lay forgotten in the National Archive in Washington in the US and has recently come to light.

The NS sent an invoice to the nazi regime for every train sent to the camp or the border and if these were not paid on time, a final warning was sent, Brandpunt reports.

In total, the NS sent 30 invoices.
