Body of missing Norwegian tourist found in Amsterdam canal

Amsterdam police have found the body of missing Norwegian tourist Tore Grodem in the canal close to the place where he was last seen.

His body was found under a bridge close to the Max Euweplein, near the Vondelpark where volunteers had been searching for him last weekend.

Grodem disappeared on December 18 after being dropped at his hotel near the Leidseplein by an ambulance after he was taken ill outside a night club.

Police were alerted by a passersby on Thursday afternoon, the Parool reported. Grodem was identified by his clothing and documents.

His body will now undergo a post mortem investigation in an effort to find out how he died.
