Spending power due to rise next year for some

December 16, 2014

saving two euros in a piggy bankSpending power is set to rise for many Dutch people by 0.75% in 2015, up from the 0.5% estimated in the September budget, according to figures sent to parliament by social affairs minister Lodewijk Asscher on Tuesday.

Single parents on a minimum wage will benefit the most with an increase in spending power of 10.5%. This is because the ruling that income support was stopped when someone took a job and left social benefit has been scrapped.

However, not everyone will profit from an increase in spending power. People on a state pension, single earners with children and on an average wage and single people on a low wage will all see their spending power decrease, the NRC reports.
