First autumn storms to hit the Netherlands on Tuesday

After a weekend of record temperatures, the first autumn storms will hit the Netherlands this week, weather forecasters say.

The wind will pick up from Tuesday morning and there will be strong gusts in places, leading to some problems on the roads. The southwesterly winds will be strongest in coastal areas.

Monday will be overcast with some showers but heavy rain, possibly with thunder, will hit on Tuesday. The temperature will fall to around 13 Celsius, the KNMI weather bureau said.
