Children’s fruit juice drink is named misleading product of the year

Children’s drink Capri-Sun Multivitamin has been named most misleading product of 2014 by visitors to the Foodwatch website.

Owner Coca-Cola promotes Capri-Sun with the text ‘drink with fruit juice and spring water’ but there is almost as much sugar in it as in cola itself. Vitamins may have been added, but this is to give the drink an ‘unjustly responsible’ image, Foodwatch says.

Over 26,000 people voted in the competition.

Capri-Sun took 38% of the vote. Albert Heijn’s meat rissoles, made ‘according to a traditional Dutch recipe’ which contains five types of sugar, seven e numbers and meat which has been injected with water, came second.
