Three killed as monster truck stunt goes wrong

A third person has died following Sunday’s accident involving a monster truck at a show in Haaksbergen, Nos television reports.

Two adults and a boy were killed after the giant truck drove over a number of old cars as a stunt and then appeared to lose control before veering into the public.

Five people are still critically ill in hospital and 18 others were also injured, the town’s mayor Hans Gerritsen said in a website statement.

According to international guidelines operated by the Monster Truck Racing Association, no one should have been standing where those who died were watching.

The driver of the truck has been arrested and faces manslaughter charges, local broadcaster RTV Oost quoted his lawyer as saying.
