Summer’s back: forecasters promise 24 Celsius this week

Weather forecasters are promising a week of summer temperatures in the Netherlands, with up to 25 Celsius in some places.

The Indian summer will begin on Tuesday as the temperature hits 24 Celsius, weather bureau Weeronline.nl said at the weekend. The highest temperatures will be in the south east of the country.

The average temperature in mid-September is 19 Celsius. Nine of the 13 Septembers so far this century have been warmer than average, Weeronline.nl said.

Weather forecaster KNMI sounds a note of caution in its forecasts, saying that showers are also likely towards the end of the week.
