Shell opens first petrol station Starbucks – in the Netherlands

The first branch of coffee seller Starbucks at a Shell petrol station will open in the Netherlands on Tuesday.

The Shell Starbucks on the A2 just south of Amsterdam, is a test case, Shell Nederland sales director Linda van Schaik told news agency ANP.

The aim is to attract more clients in between meetings or on their way to meet family and friends by offering them a comfortable location with good coffee, cakes and filled rolls, Van Schaik said.

Starbucks already has several solo roadside operations in the Netherlands and works together with the AC Restaurant group which runs the restaurant group Autogrill.
