Dutch defeated by the Czechs at start of European campaign

The Netherlands had a dramatic start to their 2016 European championship qualification campaign on Tuesday night, losing 2-1 to the Czech Republic.

Oranje, who came third at this summer’s World Cup in Brazil, gave away a 1-1 draw in the dying moments of the game after a bad header from defender Daryl Janmaat.

‘I had to take myself into seclusion,’ said Dutch coach Guus Hiddink after the match. ‘We were able to just walk out of here with a 1-1 draw. We gave it away so stupidly. When I talk about it now I get extremely angry again.’
