Demand for skilled IT staff set to soar in the Netherlands

The demand for skilled IT staff is set to grow strongly this year as technological advances gather pace, according to the state-run job centre organisation UWV.

The number of jobs vacancies in the sector will reach 34,000 this year, up 20% on a year ago. System analysts and information specialists will be in particular demand in the greater Amsterdam area, in Utrecht and in south-eastern Brabant.

Meeting the demand for highly skilled staff will be one of the major challenges facing the Dutch IT sector, the organisation said. Some 250,000 people currently work in IT.
