The Netherlands beat Australia in second World Cup group game

The Netherlands beat Australia 3-2 in their World Cup tie on Wednesday evening in what became a tit-for-tat match in which the Dutch failed to live up to their promise against Spain.

Nevertheless, Oranje now has six points from two games and will move into the knock-out rounds of the competition. Chile, who earlier beat Australia, also beat Spain on Wednesday night, eliminating the Spaniards from the competition.

The Dutch play Chile in their third Group B qualifier on Monday June 23 to decide who tops the group. Robin van Persie will miss the Chile game after being given a second yellow card against Australia.
