Shoes and bones found in Panama, possibly from missing girls

Shoes and bones possibly from the two young Dutch women who disappeared in Panama on April 1 are undergoing forensic examination, Dutch media reports on Friday.

Two different shoes and some bones were found close to the spot where a rucksack containing the women’s phones and other possessions was found by a local last week. The area of jungle is eight hours from where the women were last seen as they headed off for a walk.

The area is now being intensively searched, Nos correspondent Marac Bessems told the broadcaster. Although officials in Panama have only said they have discovered important evidence, the Dutch foreign ministry has confirmed that the find involves shoes and bones.

Local newspapers have also carried photographs of shoes. The finds are currently undergoing dna testing in Panama.

Lisanne Froon (22) and Kris Kremers (21) vanished while heading off for a walk. They were in Panama to learn Spanish and do charity work.
