King and queen visit Normandy for D-Day commemorations

King Willem-Alexander, queen Máxima and prime minister Mark Rutte are in Normandy on Friday morning for the D-Day commemorations.

It was exactly 70 years ago that allied forces waded ashore along the Normandy coast in an action that was to end World War II.

The trio are joining veterans from the Princess Irene Brigade and the Marine Air Service, who among the last survivors of the invasion. The youngest is 88-years-old, the oldest is 94.
