Extra security for Jewish buildings in Amsterdam

Security is being stepped up at Jewish buildings in Amsterdam on the recommmendation of the Dutch counter terrorism unit, Nos television reports on Friday.

Nos says the NCTV has written to the city stating that while it has no concrete information that an attack is being planned on Jewish property, extra security would be advisable.

Mayor Eberhard van der Laan has now decided to follow the recommendation. Four people were killed in an attack on the Jewish museum in Brussels on May 24. A French national has since been arrested.

Nos says the council is in talks with the Jewish community about what form the extra security should take. The mayor is also in talks with national government about funding.
