Amsterdam’s luxury Amstel hotel stays in Qatar hands

A hotel group from Qatar has bought Amsterdam’s luxury Amstel hotel, the Qatar Times reports.

The paper says the Amstel is one of five InterContinental hotels acquired by Katara Hospitality, which is a state investment fund.

Financial details were not disclosed but according to estimates by website PropertyNL, the Qatar company may have paid €800,000 a unit for the 55-room and 24-suite hotel.

The Amstel hotel was put up for sale by its previous owner GSSG Holding last October. GSSG is also a Qatar-based company.
