Roda JC relegated, PSV wins Europa League place

Limburg football club Roda JC is out of the Eredivisie for the first time in the club’s history, despite beating Go Ahead Eagles 1-0 in the last match of the season.

The three points should have been enough to put Roda into the relegation playoffs but NEC’s 2-2 draw against Ajax sealed the Kerkrade side’s fate.

Roda JC of Kerkrade, founded in 1962, has played in the top Dutch division since 1972. Willem II of Tilburg, relegated to the Jupiler League last season, will return to the Eredivise as champions.

Draw

Ajax had already become premier league champions for the fourth successive year last week.

The Amsterdammers finished four points clear of Rotterdam club Feyenoord with 71 points from 34 games. Feyenoord ended on 67 points after drawing 1-1 at AZ of Alkmaar.

FC Twente of Enschede finished in third place with a 2-2 draw against PEC Zwolle. PSV also managed to win a place in the Europa League third qualifying round after beating NAC of Breda 2-0.
