Belgian media concern Persgroep would be interested in taking over the NRC newspaper to add to its stable of Dutch printed media, chief executive Christian van Thillo said on Thursday.

Speaking at the presentation of the Persgroep’s financial results, Van Thillo said an offer could be made before the summer, if all parties ‘feel right’ about it.

The NRC’s current owner, investment group Egeria, said earlier this year it was putting the NRC up for sale.

If the sale went through, Persgroep would own all the big Dutch daily papers apart from the Telegraaf and the Financieele Dagblad.
