Dutch horse owned by bankrupt property group sold for €8.6m

A show jumper which won two silver medals at the London Olympics has been sold at auction for €8.6m as part of the estate of bankrupt property development company Eurocommerce.

The deal for the horse, named London, included 170 vials of its sperm, news agency ANP reports.

The horse was part of a large stable owned by property firm Eurocommerce which went bankrupt owing millions of euros to Rabobank and other creditors.

Eurocommerce owner Ger Visser sold the stable to his son just prior to the bankruptcy in a deal that involved no payments. That deal was annulled by the curators, allowing Rabobank to auction off the horses.
