Classic British film, thought lost, is found in Amsterdam archive

A classic British silent film, starring the most successful British actress of the 1920s and long thought lost, has been found in a Dutch film archive.

The film, Love, Life and Laughter was made in 1923 by George Pearson and is a rags-to-riches story starring Betty Balfour. The film has been on the British Film Institute’s ‘most wanted’ list for years, the Guardian reports.

The film was discovered last week in the archives of Dutch film institute EYE. Researchers were going through a collection of film found in a building in Hattem, which was used as a cinema in the early 1930s.
