Amsterdam’s last peep show to close

Amsterdam’s last peep show is set to close its doors for good and aims to reopen as a ‘luxury nightclub’, according to the Parool.

The Sex Palace on the Oudezijds Achterburgwal in the city’s red light district has been in operation for over 40 years.

In the peep show, clients sit in a private booth and pay €2 to watch a woman strip and perform sex acts on a revolving stage.

Internet is the main reason for the peep show’s declining popularity, the paper says. There used to be six in Amsterdam.

‘It is over throughout Europe,’ owner Jan Otten told Vice News. ‘We still earn money from it but I know that in Brussels sometimes they have just three clients a day.’
