The Rolling Stones are confirmed for Pinkpop (update)

The Rolling Stones are to headline at the annual Dutch Pinkpop festival which takes place on June 7, the organisers confirmed on Wednesday afternoon.

The news was first revealed by the band via their app but Pinkpop organiser Jan Smeets said he was unable to confirm the report because the contracts had not yet been signed.

The band, which has not performed in Europe for seven years, has already signed several festival dates.

Pinkpop is the longest-running Dutch festival. The first one was staged in 1970. It traditionally takes place over the Whitsun (Pinkster) weekend, which this year falls on June 7-9. Ticket sales start on Saturday.
