Here it is: the Dutch Eurovision entry is Calm after the Storm

The Dutch entry for this year’s Eurovision Song Contest was given its television debut on Wednesday evening, performed live on chat show De Wereld Draait Door.

Calm after the Storm is a country number, performed by Ilse de Lange and Waylon, calling themselves The Common Linnets.

The number quickly took the top spot in the Dutch iTunes chart but reactions from the public have been mixed. Some people described it as boring and slow. ‘This is not going to do the trick,’ one said on Twitter.

The Eurovision Song Contest first semi-final, which includes The Netherlands, takes place on May 6 in Copenhagen.
