Employers optimistic on jobs

Dutch employers are optimistic about prospects for the jobs market with the net employment outlook up from 0% to 1% for the next quarter, according to a survey by Manpower.

It is the first time in two years that the quarterly survey by the staffing agency has registered optimism.

‘We are seeing an expectation in growth in the number of jobs in all sectors, but it is still too early to say the worst is over,’ a Manpower spokesman told Nos television.

Employers in the service sector expect to take on more people than in the first quarter of 2014. In the heavy industry sector, the net employment outlook has risen to 7%.

The net employment outlook is calculated by subtracting the percentage of employers expecting a decrease in the size of their workforce from the percentage of employers expecting an increase.
