Delft up in university reputation rankings, other Dutch institutions slide

Delft University of Technology has climbed into the top 50 of the Times Educational university world reputation rankings.

The ranking is based on the ‘subjective judgement’ of 10,500 academics from 133 countries worldwide and is a spin off from the organisation’s world university rankings.

Delft, now in 42nd place, is one of four Dutch universities in the top 100, which is led by Harvard, MIT and Stanford.

Downward shift

In 2013, there were five Dutch institutions in the top 100, but Wageningen has since dropped out.

Amsterdam is the second rated Dutch university, remaining in the 71-80 band. Leiden has dropped from the 61-70 band to 81-90. Utrecht has also dropped from the 71-80 band to 81-90.

Seven of the 13 Dutch universities feature in the last edition of the Times world university rankings, which were published in October last year. Leiden was the top rated Dutch university in 67th place and Delft was second, in 69th place.
