British tribunal rejects discrimination claims against ABN Amro

A British employment tribunal has rejected claims of discrimination made by a senior lawyer against ABN Amro but did say her dismissal in September was not fair.

Senior lawyer Angela Cobbina claimed she was ‘frozen out’ of the Dutch banking giant in London and sued for sex, race and religious discrimination.

In particular, she claimed the bank’s chief executive in the UK, Paul Schilwerve, made repeated racist comments at her expense.

The tribunal did not provide a written ruling or reasons for the decision.

‘We are pleased the judgment supports our strong belief that the various allegations of discrimination on grounds of sex, race and religion were entirely groundless,’ a spokesman for ABN Amro told news agency Bloomberg.
