Ahold boosts supermarket presence in Czech Republic by 50 stores
Supermarket group Ahold is to acquire Spar’s 50 stores in the Czech Republic for some €190m in an all-cash deal.
The deal is ‘in line with Ahold’s strategy to expand its geographic reach in both current and adjacent markets’, the Dutch firm said in a statement.
Ahold has had a presence in the Czech Republic since 1991 and currently operates 284 Albert supermarkets there.
