Parliament wants to know exactly what the coalition government has agreed with the three opposition parties it is using to get policy through the upper house where it does not have a majority.

The coalition partners Labour and right-wing VVD have been making deals with the left-wing liberals D66, ChristianUnie and Christian fundamentalists SGP on various policy areas including housing, pensions and the budget.

Green party GroenLinks leader Bram van Ojik says he wants prime minister Mark Rutte to clarify any agreements on policy content and the timing of debates.

‘During Rutte’s first cabinet we at least had government policy on paper but now that clarity has gone,’ van Ojik says. ‘He must recognise that the rest of us must have time to prepare for debates.’

He is supported by all the opposition parties which are not currently involved in policy negotiations.
