Lloyds Bank investment arm puts money into Dutch theatre group

Lloyds Bank’s investment arm LDC has invested in Dutch theatre company Imagine Nation, which is behind the highly successful Soldier of Orange theatre show.

The Financieele Dagblad says financial details were not disclosed but that LDC invested an average of around €24m in 22 different projects last year. A spokesman for the theatre company told the paper LDC is not the only outside investor but is a ‘substantial’ one.

Imagine Nation was set up in 2012 to develop new entertainment concepts. Its latest project, a musical about Anne Frank, is due to open in April at a new theatre in Amsterdam.

The musical Soldier of Orange, about the Dutch resistance during World War II, is currently playing in a rotating 1,100 seat auditorium in a converted aircraft hanger on a Dutch military base. The scenes include a seascape, complete with water, and an aircraft which taxis to a stop.
