Wilders voted the public’s politician of the year

Geert Wilders, leader of the anti-Islam and anti-Europe PVV, was voted politician of the year by viewers of television current affairs show EenVandaag.

Wilders, who was third in last year’s poll, was praised for his ‘clear language and listening abilities’.

Finance minister Jeroen Dijsselbloem, voted politician of the year by the Dutch political press, was second and D66 leader Alexander Pechtold was third.

Last year Labour leader Diederik Samsom won the poll. This year he came in 16th place.
