More people volunteer to give up a kidney
This year 41 individuals have given up a kidney to help someone they do not know, according to the Dutch transplant foundation.
In 2007, there were just six ‘atruistic’ donations.
Every year, there are some 400 live donations in the Netherlands but most go to a family member or friend.
