IJmuiden ferry fire: Englishman charged with arson

A 26-year-old man from Sunderland has been charged with arson after fire broke out on a North Sea ferry at the weekend.

Six people were airlifted to hospital after the blaze in a cabin on Saturday night. The ferry, en route to IJmuiden, was forced to return to Britain, stranding hundreds of passengers.

The man will appear in court on Tuesday, according to British media reports.

The fire was put out within 15 minutes.
