Shopkeepers expect their turnover to be boosted by between €510m and €515m this year thanks to the Sinterklaas festivities, the national retail council said on Wednesday

In particular, traditional family games are proving popular this year, but so are luxury gifts like perfume and jewellery, the board said.

The average family will spend over €100 on presents and celebrating Sinterklaas, up 4.6% on a year ago.
