Ilse DeLange and Waylon form duo as Dutch Eurovision entry

Country singer Ilse DeLange and Dutch Motown signing Waylon will represent the Netherlands at next year’s Eurovision Song Festival in Copenhagen.

The two soloists will form a duo with the name The Common Linnets and will perform a country-bluegrass number, broadcasters Avro and Tros said on Monday. The linnet is a song bird.

The duo will take part in the semi-finals in early May alongside 35 other countries. Last year, singer Anouk became the first Dutch Eurovision entry to qualify for the finals in nine years.

Waylon and DeLange have been recording together but have not yet decided which song to use for the competition, DeLange told a news conference.
